for a passage through the Kiel Canal, passage dues are incurred on basis of the Ordinance on Passage Dues on the Kiel Canal
(
NOKBefAbgV
).
As a service of the Waterways and Shipping Administration, this portal offers you as a pilot project the opportunity to conveniently pay the passage dues in advance, so you can avoid the
more cumbersome and time-consuming way to the ticket machines on site. Payment at
on-site ticket machines in Kiel-Holtenau
is still available as an alternative.

You register a passage for a freely selectable day, the proof of payment is already valid two days before and three days
after your chosen day, so you remain flexible in your route planning. You can register a passage through two locks and the
entire length of the Kiel Canal or a so-called partial passage with only one lock. In this case, your passage ends or
begins at the latest on the inland side of the other lock. Both options can be selected westbound or eastbound.
After having payed you will receive a code by e-mail, which must be shown or communicated at the locks. Please print this
code on DIN A 4 size to show it to the inspector at the top of the locks. We are currently working on a more modern,
automated solution for the controls.
In future, the domain and accordingly the e-mail-addresses of the webshop will change, when the period of the pilot project ends successfully. This will take place at the beginning of the next pleasure craft season in 2024.
